ONLINE PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST MIMA 2011
THE CONTEST
The participation is free and open to all underwater photographers, professionals or beginners.
The spirit of the contest is to highlight the beauty of the underwater funds around the world and of its flora and fauna.
MAILING AND FORMAT OF THE PHOTOGRAPHS
The photographs have to be sent by E-mail to the following address:
The photographs must be in a JPG file, and the longest side of the photograph will be between 2000 to 3000 pixels, indicating the following information:
- The category to where the photo is address (Environment, Fauna, or Medes Islands).
- Name and surname
- Contact telephone, town and country
- E-mail.
- Place where the photo was taken.
- Technical characteristics
- Title of the image.
The limit data to receive the photographs will be the 15th of May.
In receiving the photos the organisation will ratify the participant’s inscription.
CATEGORIES
The categories are Environment, Fauna, Flora, and Medes Islands.
Only two photos by author and category will be admitted.
Environment Category: they are the photographs shot with angular or big angular lens, with or without a model, showing the existing underwater atmosphere highlighting its beauty.
Category Fauna: they are the photographs lead played by beings (or group of them) that live or develop all or part of their life under water.
Islands Medes Category: they are the photographs taken in the Marine Reserve of the Medes Islands.
Three categories above described, do not admit manipulated photographs done with evident digital techniques (cloning, saturation, etc.) neither those where the reality has been impaired using multi-exposure, masks or coloured lights.
Photographs, to which it is evident that manipulation, ill-treating or alteration of the natural habitat of the marine species has been done, will not be admitted.
The photographs cannot have been awarded in other photographic competition.
The author will have the rights on the photographs shown and awarded; they will always belong to the photographer. MIMA can only freely use the awarded ones in promoting the competition, in activities that will not a have a commercial aim. (Edition of promotional leaflets of the contest, assembling of expositions...) The awarded photographs in the Medes Islands category can only be freely use for the promotion of the tourist activities of the Medes Islands, that will not have commercial purpose.
The participation in this competition implies the acceptance of those principles
PRIZES
Three categories will be awarded.
The winner in each category will receive 200€.
Only a photograph per author and category will be awarded. The prizes are not accumulative.
The currency prizes are subject to the actual fiscal regulations for this type of remuneration.
The collaborators and sponsors may award special prizes for any photographs they consider particularly suited to the themes they are sponsoring. The collaborator/sponsor themes and prizes will be described in the special rules that will be circulated during the competition week.

EXHIBITION
All photographs will be hanged in the Web page of the organisation the following day to the closing of the term of inscriptions.
The winning photographs and the ones regarded, as finalists will be enlarge and exposed within the days of MIMA 2011.
