WELCOME TO THE MIMA 2010

From the 1st to the 6th June 2010, L’Estartit – Medes Islands will house the International Underwater Image Festival “Medes Imatge i Medi Ambient - MIMA”( Medes Image and Environment ). The foreseen schedule will include:

• International Open of Underwater Photography, undoubtedly the most prestigious chapter of the festival, which wellcomes year after year the best teams of worldwide underwater photographers. The spectacularity of its images does justice to the skills of the participants in this competition - the 8th Edition, and turns it into an important reference in the underwater photography scene.
• International Underwater Cinema and Video Contest. Short and long films by worldwide image and diving professionals.
• Online Submarine Photography Contest. Photographers from around the world can submit their photographies through the Internet.
• Debate meeting “Medes Islands: 20 years of protection.” 20 years protection of this natural area will make the 2010 edition of this festival develop a specially conmemorative sight, and one of the foreseen acts is this debate.

• Environment educational activities for scholars from 14 to 18 years old. The winner of the contest “Draw the Medes Islands” will hand his drawing over for the next edition of the festival. The drawings and the pictures will be exhibited during the week .
• Exhibitions linked to the “20th Anniversary of the Medes Islands”, nostalgia and memories.

• Guest celebrity. This section  began on 2003 and, since then, the following celebrities have been invited: Debora Andollo (2003), Carlos Minguell (2004), Eduard Ametlla (2006), Leandro Blanco (2007), Albert Falcó (2008),   Pierfranco DILENGE (2009).

• IV Marine Art Exhibition – 5 and 6 June. Paintings, ceramics, drawings and any form of expression deriving its inspiration from the sea and its bottom.

MIMA 2010 Presentations

It is vital the presence of the MIMA 2010 at the most important shows, where all the contacts are made, both among the participants and with the international press.

ITALY ( ROME ): “EUDI Show”, 12 to 15 February 2010
SPAIN ( BARCELONA ): “Fira de Cornellà”, 12 to 14 March 2010. Presentation of the Festival to the media and the general public on Saturday the 13rd.
